PERSONAL
ASSESSMENT...
I
began playing the guitar at the age of 17. I switched to bass
after 6 months because I love the power and drive that it has
in heavy metal. I structure my bass lines to give counter melody
and provide bottom end. There are a lot of intricate runs and
complex progressions in Cloven Hoof music so it gives a
lot of scope and interest for me particulary in a live setting.
On stage I feel the band is at it's best, but that is not to say
I don't like the disciplines of a studio enviroment. It is just
so much more exciting to feed off an audience. The studio can
be so sterile sometimes.
One
of the biggest thrills for me even now is when I work on a song
and present it to the band and we record it for the first time.
It is like giving birth almost, creating a song and then watching
it come to life is a fantastic feeling. There is a tremendous
amount of work in the process, but it is so rewarding when a track
comes to fruition. I will never tire of the thrill song writing
always gives me.
Away
from the music, well I would describe myself as a typical Gemini,
with a keen sense of humour. I can be the life and soul of the
partly, and larger than life on stage. I am a tremendously
loyal friend who appears to be usually upbeat on the surface.
However I have the duality of being sometimes a moody bastard
and over sensitive.
With
me there are no half measures or middle ground, everything tends
to be black and white. As a rule I give total 100% commitment.
This makes me Intense and sometimes over bearing. If I meet obsticles
I want to kick down the doors and meet difficulties head on.
I have
always been creative and artistic even from very young with a
lively and active imagination. Science fiction and horror films
have always been a staple diet and the facination with these topics
have always become manifest in my writing with Cloven Hoof...
Music is my Life!
